Who We Are
Mzansi Farming Hub was created to make practical agricultural information easier to find in one place. The site focuses on South African production conditions rather than copying a single farming model from another country.
South African farming ranges from commercial enterprises to smallholder and household production. The information needed by a grower is not always the same: a commercial producer may need enterprise budgeting and market specifications, while a smallholder may first need practical advice on water, seed, soil preparation and selling locally. The site is intended to help with both starting points.
The guides are organised around South African production conditions, including rainfall patterns, growing seasons, common production systems and local market considerations. Where a recommendation depends on province, crop, cultivar or production scale, the guide should say so rather than treating one method as universal.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: make practical farming knowledge free and accessible to every South African who wants to grow food, raise animals, or build a farming business.
We believe that better-informed farmers grow more food, waste fewer resources, avoid costly mistakes, and build more sustainable businesses. When farmers succeed, rural communities thrive, food security improves, and South Africa is stronger.

Language and editorial approach
South Africa has 11 official languages and a farming community that speaks all of them. Our homepage content is available in English, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Sesotho, and Afrikaans, with plans to expand to all 11 official languages. We believe language should never be a barrier to farming knowledge.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
All content on Mzansi Farming Hub is researched and written with reference to South African agricultural science, extension service guidelines, and practical field experience. We cite local sources including the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD), the Agricultural Research Council (ARC), and commodity organisations such as SAGIS, Grain SA, and the South African Fruit Exporters Association.
⚠️ Our guides are for informational purposes only. Always consult a registered agricultural extension officer or qualified agronomist before making major farming decisions. Read our full Disclaimer.
