The site is designed to operate independently of any single provider and may use PayFast, Paystack or another provider approved by the administrator. A provider may be enabled or disabled without changing the marketplace's underlying transaction records.
A product sale on the marketplace carries a locked 6.00% platform fee. This rate is fixed by policy, is never set or changed from an administrator settings screen, and is the same rate shown at checkout, recorded on the sale and disclosed here. Gateway processing for a product sale is a separate, farmer-side cost, capped so that the combined platform and gateway charge never exceeds 9% of the sale amount. A sponsored placement (an advertising product, not a farmer product sale) carries its own administrator-configured fee, currently 100.00%, which the administrator may change from time to time; the rate applied to a sponsorship payment is always the one shown at checkout. Either way, the platform fee is separate from the gateway's own underlying charges, which are recorded independently so the administrator can see the true platform revenue.
Third-party payment providers set their own pricing, taxes and payout charges. Their prices may change. The platform therefore does not promise that the platform fee equals an equivalent net profit. Current provider charges must be checked against the provider's own published pricing.
A browser return page is not treated as sufficient proof on its own. Where supported, the platform verifies the payment with the provider's server or webhook before marking an order, sponsorship or donation as paid.
When a user chooses to save a payment method, the site may retain a securely protected provider token where the selected provider supplies reusable tokenisation. The platform does not intentionally store the underlying card number, CVV, PIN or online-banking password.
The general online purchase minimum is currently R100.00. Sponsorship products may have a separate lower administrator-controlled minimum to preserve the advertised sponsorship tiers.
Funds owed to farmers can remain pending after payment success. The current reserve period is designed to allow settlement, fraud checks and early reversal risk to be addressed before funds become available for payout.
Refunds and chargebacks are recorded as separate financial events. A chargeback can place the related seller balance on hold or reverse previously available funds.
Gateway secrets are protected in the application. Payment records use random public references, server-side verification and an audit ledger. Users should never send passwords, PINs, CVV codes or one-time passwords to platform staff.
A farmer can ask for the green Verified badge. This is optional: a farmer who is not verified can still list, and is shown with a red Unverified label. To be verified a farmer pays a one-time verification fee, currently R30.00, through Yoco, verifies their phone number with an SMS code, gives their ID number, sends an ID document, the front of their bank card and proof of account, and completes a private location check. Paying the fee does not guarantee approval; an administrator decides.
Credit, not a card refund. 50% of the fee is credited to the farmer's seller balance. It is not paid back to the card. The credit stays pending until the farmer's first completed order or 60 days after payment, whichever comes first, and then becomes available like any other balance. If the account is suspended for fraud while the credit is held, the credit can be taken back. The other 50% of the fee is not refunded or credited.
